...and I've got invited to a costume party, my boss is throwing. The problem?

Kinja'd!!!

I don't know what to wear? I don't want to go without a costume, since people will think I'm a party crasher, but I don't wear something stupid like a giant pickle costume, or worse a giant dick.

Meh, girlfriend already ordered some kind of SW imperial officer costume, online. So if I want to go with military theme myself, I have to keep it SW, and I don't have too many options, things like Darth Vader and Storm/Clone troopers are already overused.

Go as Steve Jobs. Just jeans and a black turtle neck. It also might help sell the costume if you walk around showing off your iPhone like a hand model looking for work

We need to narrow this down some.

Do you want to spend money on a costume or do you mostly want to wear clothes that you already have?

What do you look like?

Do you need a very impressive costume? Are you trying to win a contest or really get noticed?

I guess you do not already have pirate costume or Star Trek uniform top in your closet?

Kinja'd!!! El Relámpago(LZone) - Humanity First! > dawnell

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, but not a lot of money, I've seen a pretty interesting Spawn costume on Ebay but it was $1.100. I'd like to spend no more than $600 or so, on the costume.

I'm average looking, I guess(so no big sizes for me), 28, white, brown hair(but I like quick dyes on occasions).

I don't want something to win contests, but since many coworkers and some of the more important managers will be there, I need something better than a silly hat or a wrestling mask.

The last time I went to a costume party, I was a zombie bicyclist. I took an old T-shirt and cut the sleeves off, then painted an old car tire with black paint and ran it over the shirt, so it had tread marks going over it. I had an old bicycle helmet that I put a crack in and had brains/fake blood coming out of. I painted my face for the "Zombie" affect, put on the shirt and a pair of cycling shorts, and then for the final touch, put a bicycle tire over my shoulder. Simple, cheap and easy to get around in, especially after I ditched the tire.

Put something on. Even if it's just a suit and a headpiece and you're Secret Service or a solider or just drape on a beige-ish robe to be a Jedi and match your girlfriend with a cheap toy lightsaber from Target. Being the guy in no costume isn't fun. At the very least, pull an Oz in Buffy and put a God nametag on. It just seems a little "too cool for school" when you're one of the people who refuses to do anything, especially since your GF is going for something.

Otherwise: anything in your industry since it's a work party. Could be funny to go as a thing fitting your work.

Some of the snakepit stuff like Captain America looks much more comfortable. You can wear it without a mask, or if you wear it with the mask it doesn't cover your whole face and you can still eat and talk and all that.

Soldier? That's boring, unless you know where I can get uniforms like those.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, the Jedi thing is overused and the SW rebel costumes are goofy.

Hmm, still don't know what to wear, I wonder if they allow people in their birthday suits...

Well, those I picked solely because they are indeed lazy costumes and it seemed you didn't want to expend much effort (understandable on Halloween). BUT if you are willing to get cool with the costume, then I can make suggestions if you want ;) Lots of great twists on SW universe stuff in the cosplay world too if you want something not as boring. Or you could just go as a minor character. Not a ton of people do Lando! Nothing always just seems like a statement to deliberately not be in the spirit of fun.

If you want birthday suit, you could do Adam with a fig leaf :P

A bathrobe and a newspaper makes you Arthur Dent, but you need a few British people around to get the jokes.

We did that for a contest. The British people got it, but it turned out that the British people were not the contest judges. Turned out okay, they explained it for us.

We knew of a guy (who also went to that same contest) who went as the Death Star. This big Death Star thing was his mask, and then he was in this suit covered in MicroMachines. Then he'd wave his arms around so that the ships could fight each other.

No, but my parents were annoying enough to videotape it, they never told me until I reached 16, then they showed me the tape. I was shocked.
I obviously know how kids are born by that age, but actually seeing it and knowing that I was so damn small and still so loud, was something else.

My mom wanted me to become a doctor, but that's a hard job for very responsible people. She hoped that seeing how I was born would inspire me, out of all thing. It didn't really.

Kinja'd!!! Celia the Vampire Slaying Vampire > El Relámpago(LZone) - Humanity First!

I have no doctor-phobia, I just don't have the guts to be a doctor. I respect them more, since I know that not everybody can be one, and the video made me respect women a lot more too, as giving birth seems like a seriously painful thing to do. In fact, if men gave birth, probably every kid would be the only child, since no man could do that twice.

If it is to go as a guy with a funny voice and silly hair, I'd rather be Fry. It is easier to pull off and I can drink a lot of beer without having people thinking that I'm an alcoholic.
